MY OWN EXPERIENCES

Socially people have grown to call me by my namesake Lula Mae or just Lula! A Virgo Sun - Scorpio Moon - Pisces Rising I naturally nurture and  give my full dedication to the things I'm passionate about! I've completed my Birth Doula training with the Founder & CEO of the National Black Doula Association herself, Tracie Collins. While also mentoring under the positively brilliant Cassey Mapp-Ahmed and Village Sis Doula Community, I'm learned Postpartum Doula & Lactation Support. It’s my passion to honor and empower birthing bodies of ALL shapes , sizes and shades! All birthing parents deserve to have the proper education and guidance based off of their own body , experience , and no one else's. I’m here to provide that unbiased information and emotional support. I physically serve in the Metro Detroit area and virtually wherever I’m needed! I was blessed in my own journey to become the Mama Bear to my son Kai bear who is the love and light of my life. It was Kai’s birth four years ago that opened the door that would lead me to submit myself to birth work. My little bear is my "Professor in Patience & Being my best self 101" ! Kai was diagnosed with non-verbal autism in 2019 and I've been devoted to being his voice just as much as he's my heart. I'm committed to learning /teaching, caring ,and connecting with him in ways seen as not “neurotypical”, but allow him to flourish . It would bring me great joy to advocate for other families that share my same experience. After the years it took to transition, educate myself , train and balance Mommy hood I’m finally proud to have implanted my roots in birth work as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. It’s even more meaningful  to be doing so  in my hometown Detroit!
